The Smile
As a kid, he carried a big broad smile
That could enlighten even a sad man’s face
He lost his smile and his childhood
And the society claimed it was the growing phase
Little did they knew the happy kid’s problem
For them his face had turn pale
For only the kid knew
It was the beginning of a long and sad tale
Fighting pressures and hurdling across struggles
Some were his own, others were imposed
He fought and fought and never gave up
But he knew all this was eating him up
With tears in his eyes and body all sore
He would hold them back even as his insides tore
Expectations, sadness and failures was all the weight he bore
He kept on fighting for he wanted the last roar
Can I pull this through?
Was the thought of the mind
Will I survive this?
was the cry the heart whined
The belief grew stronger
The kid understood something
This life was his empire
And he was its king
The smile came back
The society noticed the change
The little kid had resurrected
And freed himself from the cage
He got everything back
Like he defeated society in a perfect game of chess
The society smiled
For the kid had lost himself in the process
