The Mother's Pain
In a world where she’s so respected, she needs to be protected,
This poem is about no other,
Today I talk about the Earth, our mother.
The behaviour of her children seems to be surprising,
Who’ve just turned a blind eye as her problems keep rising.
She provides the condition that allow life to be created,
It’s such an irony that her very children have left her deteriorated.
The heat it reflects back is captured like a mouse,
All thanks to the effect called greenhouse.
Her temper keeps increasing with her temperatures at a rate that is alarming,
But no one gives a damn about global warming.
Enduring this pain she has now begun to weep,
The proof lies in the fact that her glaciers have begun to seep.
She’s suffering from asthma which is our contribution,
Suffocating in her own atmosphere thanks to air pollution.
Another hit to her gifts caused by her offsprings’ collusion,
Her nectars turned venomous by virtue of water pollution.
Nobody replenishes her treasures, she’s ripped off her jewels,
Our future generations might not know what were fossil fuels.
Her lungs, our oxygenators subject to ablation,
How shall we breathe if we don’t stop deforestation?
Peace and harmony are just concepts of fiction,
She cries as hunting and poaching lead to species extinction.
Change in the nature of things cause her a lot of pain,
The land which once flourished under her boon,
Now scorched by the bane of acid rain.
Her shields coming down as they are highly mistreated,
She’s burned by the UV as her ozone’s depleted.
Her resources we were supposed to refill,
But sadly we turned her into a giant landfill.
She needs to be cured, needs to be shown care,
Or else nature shall punish us with a penal stare.
The balance needs to be restored, we need to change our path,
Or else we shall face God’s wrath.
It’s high time now, we need to mend our ways,
Let’s start caring for our mother now, why wait for Earth Day.
